Exam Achievements and Certificate

Exam registration

Exam registration in FlexNow for SITA courses

You must register for the examination in FlexNow for all courses offered by the study-related IT training programme (recognisable by the course numbers beginning with "60").

When you register, you will automatically be shown all the modules in which it is possible for you to take the exam. Please consider in advance which module you would like to register for and select the correct one accordingly.

The registration and cancellation periods for SITA courses run parallel to the course periods in FlexNow (see SPUR/EXA).

Please note: You will not receive ECTS points for courses that you enrol in CC-ZL (voluntary additional services)!

Exam registration with other faculties and the BVU

Please refer to the respective course descriptions in the EXA course catalogue system to find out how to register for examinations for courses offered by other faculties.

For courses offered via the Bavarian Virtual University (vhb) (recognisable by the course numbers beginning with "61"), examination registration takes place directly via the vhb.

Accounting for the achievements

As soon as the IT lecturers have assessed the examinations for SITA courses, they send the results to the person responsible, who then enters the grades in FlexNow within the module for which you have registered.

You will be notified of the grade release via an automated email and can then view the result in FlexNow.

Recognition of achievements

If you would like to have courses from your main degree programme recognised as part of SITA, please send a FlexNow printout in PDF format clearly showing your achievements to: support.sita(at)ur.de. (opens your email program)

If you would like to have courses that you have completed at another university or the Bavarian Virtual University (vhb) recognised as part of SITA, please send an e-mail with your digital certificate in PDF format and a written assurance that you will not submit the certificate to any other teaching institution for booking to: support.sita(at)ur.de. (opens your email program)

Failure to do so may result in consequences under examination law.

If you have not received a certificate digitally, but in paper form, please send us the original by post:

Certificate

Required scope of services for obtaining the IT certificate

To obtain the IT certificate, you must have completed three CC modules in full, at least two of which must be from the (elective) compulsory area (2015 version: modules CC-M01 to M06).

In order to successfully complete a CC module, you must generally attend and pass two courses worth 3 ECTS credits each, at least one of which must be graded. If both courses are graded, the module grade is the average of the two grades.

Exceptions: Modules CC M61, CC M62 and CC M63 - no grading is required in these modules.

In addition, there are some courses that have a scope of 4 semester hours per week and a value of 6 ECTS credits.
A module is also deemed to have been fully completed when such a course is passed with a grade.

Applying for the IT certificate

As soon as your achievements have been fully recorded in FlexNow, you can apply for the certificate informally by e-mail via support.sita(at)ur.de (opens your email program).
Please provide your name, student number, degree programme and the Examination Regulations you are studying under.

The IT certificate is an official certificate with a seal and signature. Please note that the certificate can only be issued once and allow sufficient lead time for it to be issued.

Frequently asked questions

How do I register for SITA courses?

Since the winter semester 2021/22, registration for participation in the courses has taken place via the student portal"SPUR (external link, opens in a new window)" in the new course catalogue system"EXA (external link, opens in a new window)"!

A login with CC account (in the menu bar at the top right) is required.

By clicking on the burgundy-coloured field "Show course catalogue", you can access the "Study-related IT training" via "Offers for students of all faculties".

The preamble text is followed by the course programme in the two module catalogues, broken down into the new study regulations (= for students from WS 2015/16, i.e. the vast majority) and the old study regulations and here again subdivided into (elective) compulsory and elective courses in.

Clicking on the respective CC modules (e.g. module catalogue new study regulations > (elective) compulsory area > CC-M01 - Create and design texts) opens another drop-down menu in which the individual courses of the module are then listed chronologically by course number.

When you select a course (e.g. CC M01 > 60113: Introduction to layouting with Affinity Publisher), further course information (basic data with registration period, course content, requirements, proof of performance; course dates/parallel groups, module assignments etc. pp.) is displayed.

You can use this to register for the course as a student during the registration phase.

Following the enrolment phase, course places will be allocated via an automated lottery procedure and you will be notified of your assigned status by e-mail.

Where can I find out which module a SITA course belongs to?

In EXA, the"Assignment to modules" section of the course description for each course lists the modules into which the course can be incorporated.

Example:
Course 60110 Basic course Word

Assigned modules:

  • CC M01 (Version 2015)
  • CC M11.1 and CC M12.1 (2009 version)
  • CC-ZL (voluntary additional services) => Please note: You will not receive any ECTS points for these voluntary services!

Do I have to finalise the SITA completely?

As part of the IT training programme, you are free to attend as many or as few courses as you like. You can view a record of your currently enrolled IT courses in FlexNow at any time and generate a self-printout.

Please note, however, that the official IT certificate, which certifies full completion of the IT training programme, can only be obtained if you have completed at least three modules in full, at least two of which must be from the constrained elective courses (CC M01-RC M06).

Will SITA courses be recognised in my studies?

Important: Requirements for the recognition of an IT course are the registration and initial booking of the course as part of the IT training programme (CC-M01 to CC-M63)!

The respective importing degree programme and the examination office of your main degree programme decide on the recognition and value of IT training courses.
Please contact the examination office of your main degree programme for more information.

  • Students studying humanities will receive information on the recognition of credits from the Humanities Examination Office ("PA Phil").
  • Students studying for a teaching degree should contact their Teaching Degree Examination Office with the relevant application for recognition of credits in elective courses in the teaching degree programme.

Do the 2009 study regulations apply to me?

If you have completed your first course at SITA up to and including the summer semester 2015, the "old" study regulations (external link, opens in a new window) from 2009 still apply to you!
The programme is divided into acompulsory (elective) area and an elective courses in which each of these areas consists of three main topics. Three modules are offered for each specialisation.
A module usually consists of two courses and is completed with an examination or by passing partial module examinations.
To obtain the IT certificate, you must have completed three CC modules in full, at least two of which must be from the (elective) compulsory area (modules CC M11 to CC M33).
For further information on the content and requirements of the modules, please refer to the relevant module catalogue for the accompanying IT training. (external link, opens in a new window)

What is behind the additional benefits (CC-ZL)?

When does it make sense to register for a course in the CC-ZL (additional voluntary examinations) in FlexNow?

The name "additional...achievements" says it all: this is where you book all the courses that are not (or no longer) included in a CC module.

A CC module (e.g. CC-M01) is fully completed with 2 courses totalling 3 ECTS (or 1 course totalling 6 ECTS). If you now want to register for another course from the CC-M01 module in FlexNow, then select the ZL!

There are no ECTS credits for the courses booked under the ZL - so always register for all courses that you want to include in the elective courses in your degree programme in FlexNow in the relevant CC modules and not under the ZL!
