On Saturday, July 19, 2025, the Welcome Center organized a day trip to the charming Bavarian city of Landshut for international researchers and PhD students. The group met at 9:00 a.m. in front of Regensburg's main train station. They then boarded a short, pleasant train ride to Landshut.
Upon arrival, the participants were welcomed by a professional tourist guide who led them on a 1.5-hour walking tour through the historic Old Town district. The tour featured some of Landshut’s most iconic landmarks, such as the impressive St. Martin’s Church, known for having the world's tallest brick tower, and the K?nig Museum. devoted to the artist Fritz K?nig, whose work can also be found at our Campus. Throughout the tour, attendees learned about Landshut’s medieval architecture, rich history, and unique cultural traditions.
Afterwards, the group enjoyed lunch at L’Osteria, an Italian restaurant where participants could relax and connect in a more informal atmosphere. Participants could then either continue exploring the city at their own pace or return to Regensburg with the group. Many took the opportunity to wander the picturesque streets, visit local shops, or enjoy a coffee in one of the inviting cafés.
This trip offered international researchers the chance to discover one of Bavaria’s most beautiful cities and connect with peers, share experiences, and enjoy a day immersed in local culture.
