Representative for Staff with Severe Disabilities

Making more possible, hindering less.

Tasks of the Representative for Staff with Severe Disabilities

The Representative for Staff with Severe Disabilities is the elected representative body for severely disabled employees and persons with equivalent status. We work independently of the staff councils and support severely disabled employees and those with equivalent status by providing information and assistance on all issues relating to severe disabilities and employment. In concrete terms, this means

  • We help you to apply for a severe disability or equalisation and draw your attention to compensation for disadvantages.
  • We help to ensure that you are well informed about legal issues relating to your disability.
  • We support you in applying for suitable aids for your work and ensure that the workplaces at the university are ergonomically designed.
  • We are available to advise you on structural changes in order to point out accessibility requirements.
  • We ensure that you are able to work part-time or work from home and telework at your request on the basis of the applicable regulations.
  • We work to ensure that your disability does not adversely affect you in appraisals and performance bonuses.
  • If you wish, we can take part in BEM procedures and mediate in difficult staff appraisals.
  • We will work with you to find ways to successfully reintegrate you after a long period of illness.
  • If necessary, we will involve the occupational and psychosocial services of the Inclusion Office or the specialised integration service.
  • We get involved if another job at the university has to be found for you because you can no longer carry out your previous job.
  • We must always be consulted if a dismissal is to be announced and are committed to ensuring that all less severe measures are exhausted first so that the employment relationship is maintained if possible.
  • We also take the initiative ourselves and make suggestions as to how the inclusive education of severely disabled people can be further advanced

The Representative for Staff with Severe Disabilities at the University of Regensburg also advises all other employees of the university if they have health problems or questions about disability.
