  • neuroanatomy and histology of different tissues/organs with clinical aspects
  • anatomy and function of the human organ systems on a macroscopic and molecular level

  • Protein biochemistry: Western blot, immunoprecipitation, protein isolation and purification
  • DNA/RNA: Real-time PCR, cloning
  • Cell culture: Proliferation assay, migration assay, establishing of primary cell lines, transfection
  • Presentation and discussion of own experimental data

3D in vivo tumour model (Prof. Dr Silke H?rteis)

  • Cell culture of tumour cells, handling of tumour material from patients
  • 3D-in-vivo-model
  • Engrafting/transplantation of tumours
  • Testing of drugs/radiation therapy
  • Measurement of tumour volume/weight
  • Measurement of angiogenesis
  • Immunohistochemistry
  • Presentation and discussion of own experimental data

  • Transgenic animal models: Glaucoma, retinal degeneration
  • Inducible stress models: Retinopathy of prematurity, retinal degeneration model
  • Analysis of animal models: Histology, expression and synthesis studies (real-time RT-PCR, western blot, immunohistological stainings); electron microscopy
  • Presentation and discussion of own experimentally gained data
