The practical seminar represents a step towards academic independence. A topic from Business Informatics specified by the supervisor must be worked on independently and in writing using the methods learnt during the course. In particular, the seminar paper is also preparation for the Master's thesis.

On completion of this module, students will be able to analyse a topic from management information systems in writing in a convincing and comprehensible manner for third parties. The described independent and methodical processing of a real estate management topic builds on the learning outcomes of the Master's studies.

Practical seminar topics are allocated centrally by means of a computer-assisted allocation procedure. The complete range of topics offered by all chairs of the department can be viewed in the distribution system at the end of the previous semester. Students' preferences are taken into account when assigning topics and students.

The procedure takes place in three stages

1st Phase: In the first phase, students have to register for participation in the practical seminar via: https://winf-service.uni-regensburg.de/ (external link, opens in a new window)

2nd Phase: In the second phase, students can select the topics and form groups. After the second phase, places are allocated to the individual practical seminar topics.

3rd Phase: In the third phase, students can view the topic they have received or choose a free topic. An exchange of topics with an agreed partner can only take place via the responsible supervisors.
