As part of DIMAS, the Department of Interdisciplinary and Multiscale Area Studies, the University of Regensburg has appointed six professors with a wide range of regional and disciplinary expertise. The professors belong to four faculties at the UR:

- Prof Dr Astrid Ensslin - Professorship for Dynamics of Virtual Communication Spaces (SLK)
- Prof Dr Rike Kr?mer-Hoppe - Professorship for Transregional Norm Development (Law)
- Prof Dr Laura Lieber - Professorship for Transregional History of Religions (Catholic theology)
- Prof. Dr Timothy Nunan - Professorship for Transregional Cultures of Knowledge" (PKGG)
- Prof Dr Anna Steigemann - Professorship for Sociological Dimensions of Space (Spatial Research) (PKGG)
Three professorships were initially filled by deputy professors in October 2020, thereby expanding research and teaching already related to area studies.

In addition to the six professorships, there are other members of DIMAS. The chairs and professors come from the four faculties.
