Information for hosting chairs

What do I need to know if I want to host international researchers at the Chair? How can the Welcome Center help me? How do I support my guests with organisational issues?

Info

The Welcome Center is the central office for all international guest researchers at the University of Regensburg. We support you and your guests with the formalities before, during and at the end of their stay (e.g. finding accommodation, German courses, childcare, living in Regensburg). In this way, the Welcome Center aims to make it easier for new international employees to settle into their new environment.

We look forward to your support! Please register your guest with us as early as possible so that we can plan ahead.

Registration at the Welcome Center

Your guest can register online at the Welcome Center before arrival. We will be happy to send you the necessary link or write to your guest directly.

Write to us here: info.welcome-center(at)ur.de (opens your email program)

Filling in the online form does not take much time. The information will help us to provide your guests with the best possible personalised support.

Accommodation

Accommocation is not easy to find - let's better start early.

Placement of accommodation by the Welcome Centre

The following options are available for accommodation arranged by the Welcome Centre:

  • UR guest house ("Haus der Begegnung") in the historic city centre. There are 14 furnished flats between 41 square metres and 120 square metres. Early booking is recommended.
  • Private landlords and landladies

The Welcome Centre has contacts with several private landlords and landladies who rent out furnished private flats and rooms to visiting researchers. This accommodation is as varied as the landlords themselves.

If a suitable private flat is found, we exchange contact details between the landlord and guest. The guest then clarifies further details such as the rental contract, deposit and handover of keys in direct contact with the landlord or landlady. If necessary, the Welcome Centre will provide support.

Sometimes you only need accommodation for a short period of time, e.g. for guests coming to the UR for less than four weeks, guests registered at short notice or during periods of high demand when we are unable to arrange private accommodation.

If you are interested in a holiday flat, we will be happy to send you an offer on request or put you in touch with a contact.

Self-organised flat search

Many international guest researchers also look for accommodation on their own. You can find our tips and tricks under this link.
