Course Catalog of the University of Regensburg (SPUR)

Course Catalog

The course catalog of the University of Regensburg is also known as the "SPUR". It contains information on all courses offered at the university during a semester and provides information on the title of the course, the name and contact details of the lecturer, the module name, the ECTS points and the teaching time. For most courses, it is also possible to register for courses via this portal. However, you can only register for courses once you have received the login details for your Regensburg student account. This function is available to students after arrival in Regensburg.

Where can You Find the Course Catalog?

The easiest to access the course catalog is to click on “Quicklinks” on the website of the university (at the top right of the University of Regensburg homepage)

Do You Have to be Registered to Use SPUR? When do I Have to Register for Courses?

For basic information on the course options (overview of the courses offered and detailed information on the courses), registration is not required. Exchange students will receive their UR student account upon arrival in Regensburg. As soon as you are on site, you can register for courses and use other SPUR functions such as creating your timetable.

How do You Use SPUR and How do You Search for Courses for Your Study Program in Regensburg

The International Office offers a detailed information session on course selection and the use of SPUR during orientation for exchange students. We will help you with all questions regarding course selection, course registration, timetabling, etc.

You are welcome to familiarise yourself with SPUR in advance by watching our video tutorials. The tutorials (in English only) contain important information on what you as exchange students need to consider when choosing a course:

When is the Course Catalog Published?

The course catalog for the winter semester is usually published in mid-July.
The course catalogues for the summer semester are usually published in mid-January.

This means that the course catalogue for the exchange semester for which you would like to come to Regensburg is not yet available at the time of your online application. You will therefore have to work with the old course catalogues when planning your provisional course selection.

The current semester is always listed first in the course catalogues. You can change the semester in the semester selection section(top left of the course catalogue (external link, opens in a new window)) and select a different semester.

How do You Find the Language of Instruction?

Please note that you cannot necessarily deduce the language of instruction from the language of the course title. All courses have an English course title in the English language version of the course catalog, regardless of whether the course is taught in German, English or another language. It is therefore essential that you look at the course details and check the teaching language specified in the "Dates" tab. If no teaching language is specified, you can assume in most cases that the course is taught in German.
